Updated Mock Lottery Picks

nba draft

We’ve made it to June and individual workouts are in full swing. Been doing our best to keep up on all the happenings. Two things that are standing out most at this point are Boston still being the wild card at number 3 and Marquese Chriss’s stock rising. Here’s our latest mock:

1. Philadelphia – Brandon Ingram SF Duke
2. LA Lakers – Ben Simmons SF/PF LSU
3. Boston (via Brooklyn) – Marquese Chriss PF Washington
4. Phoenix – Jamal Murray PG/SG Kentucky
5. Minnesota – Kriss Dunn PG Providence
6. New Orleans – Buddy Hield SG Oklahoma
7. Denver (via New York) – Jaylen Brown SG/SF California
8. Sacramento – Dejounte Murray SG Washington
9. Toronto (via Denver) – Dragan Bender PF Croatia
10. Milwaukee – Henry Ellenson PF Marquette
11. Orlando – Skal Labissiere PF/C Kentucky
12. Utah – Jakob Poeltl C Utah
13. Phoenix – Domantas Sabonis PF Gonzaga
14. Chicago – Deyonta Davis PF/C Michigan State

    • I think there will be 5 starters out of this bunch…Simmons, Ingram, Chriss, Jamal Murray, and Sabonis. Chriss is a reach for sure but my gut is telling me he’ll grow into a role with the right team.

  1. This is a weak, weak class overall, especially since I believe Simmons is going to be a bust, and perhaps Ingram too (coming from a Duke fan). These guys won’t be worthy of a top 1-3 pick when you look back in 10 years. Honestly, if Simmons drops to 2 for the Lakers, they should consider trading Simmons away for a star, or a player in the NBA who is on the cusps of being a star… That’s just my thoughts anyway.

      • I’ve seen a lot of Duke players who have “it”. Jabari Parker, Jahlil Okafor, Justise Winslow, just to name a few in recent years. Brandon Ingram came in skinnier than me, and that says something. He progressed as he went on the year, but these Kevin Durant comparisons irk me. I just have a feeling he rushed it, and I feel this “eating anything he can” could come back to halt him. Ingram’s not such a great free throw shooter, and though there’s some stuff to like, I don’t believe he translates to the NBA game well.

If people are expecting Kevin Durant, they won’t get that. He could fall anywhere between Durant and Gerald Green. They’re long, they’re a different breed of athlete, but it’s a tossup really. Personally, I believe he falls right-smack in the middle of those two. He’s not going to be a star, nothing worthy of a #1-2 pick, but he’s going to be a nice contributor.
